Strainers
Cocktail strainers to hold back ice, pulp and herbs when you pour: Hawthorne strainers with a spring, julep strainers for mixing glasses, and fine-mesh strainers for double straining. Models come in stainless steel, copper, gold and black, from classic shapes to decorative designs, and fit standard shaker tins and mixing glasses.
How to choose a strainer
For shaken drinks, use a Hawthorne strainer on the shaker tin; a tighter spring holds back more ice chips. For stirred drinks, a julep strainer sits inside the mixing glass. To remove fine ice shards and pulp, hold a fine-mesh strainer under the Hawthorne: this is double straining, used for drinks served without ice. Check that the strainer suits your shaker or mixing glass, and see our bar spoons.
Most strainers are Alkademie models, such as Saint-Joseph, Deluxe Julep, New Bending Sun, Calavera and Fine Mesh BIGGY, along with Uber Bar Tools fine-mesh strainers and an Alka model. Delivery across Canada and in store in Montréal and Québec City.
