This reproduction glass is one of the most interesting of all antique absinthe glasses. Although it looks like a French Champagne glass, this glass was made especially for use with absinthe. This glass is made to the same measurements as an original coupe glass, including its reservoir. The reservoir is the lower part of the glass that is used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added. In addition to helping the bartender know the exact amount of absinthe to be poured, the reservoir allows the customer to know that it is an honest pour. The size of the reservoir generally correlates with the size of the glass used, as the water to absinthe ratio varies according to the drinker (generally 3 to 5 parts water to 1 part absinthe). The reservoir of this "glass" measures 25 ml, which is the norm for a glass of absinthe of this size. It is a machine-molded glass, therefore thick and strong - ideal for intensive use in a bar or restaurant.
