This artisanal matsutake syrup is an interesting combination of matsutake mushrooms and wild anis, found in Quebec's Boreal forest. The girls from Kwe realized that these mushrooms, distilled on the spot, produced a very delicate rose-like aroma. Who knew?
Kwe, which means hello or welcome in a few indigenous languages, is a brand new little business ran by two young ladies in Lac-St-Jean, Quebec. Proud of their Native American origins, they spend their days foraging the ground of the Boreal forest, in search of local and fresh ingredients. As of now, they offer 3 different syrups, but they intend to expand their range to 10. We wish them all the best!
