This Opinel Essential Knives kit is made in France, and makes a great gift to someone you love, and to yourself. It includes 4 knives: a petty knife, a serrated knife, a vegetable knife and a peeler knife. Traditional French knives for many generations, designed for daily use.
Opinel is definitely one of the most recognizable brands in the world. The Opinel family began making knives in 1800 in the Savoie region of France, and the passion of the craft was passed along from father to son for 6 generations, until this day. With only the one and famous model of folding knife they were making, the Opinel family made history. In 1985, the knife was acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum, with the mention of being one of the 100 best designed products in history. Throughout the years, industrialization facilitated the production means and the family came up with more items, like corkscrews and scissors, and with that newly expanded array they received the gold medal at the Turin International Exposition of 1911. There is now the Opinel Museum, dedicated to the iconic family's work, and it is one of the main attractions of the Savoie region. In 2016, the company opened their very first American factory, in Chicago.
